Meditation Works
I just finished a twenty minute meditation that completely reset my energy and focus.
I hadn’t meditated in some time, but today it was calling out to me. As of 2021, I practice transcendental meditation; but for years before that, I practiced mindful meditation. Mindful meditation typically focuses on the breath, or on noting your thoughts to calm and center the body. In transcendental meditation, you simply repeat your phrase over and over again for about twenty minutes. Transcendental meditation gives me more of an ‘out of body’ experience and restores my mind similar to receiving a full night’s sleep.
Today’s practice reminded me that meditation is good for my wellbeing, and that I tend to get good ideas during that time of stillness. If you know me, you know I struggle to be still; and it was the hardest part of my early practice of mindful meditation. But now, I truly sit absolutely still (on my good days) and it reminds me of how far I’ve come. If I make time for meetings, physical activity, and other things on my calendar, I can also get back to making the time to meditate daily.
What does your meditation practice look like?
